It is located in Saudi Arabia and was discovered in 1948/49. Today, it is estimated that 60% to 65% of Saudi Arabia’s oil production from 1948-2000 came from this one oil field. The current Output will be 5 million barrels (1 barrel = 159 liters) per day, which corresponds to approximately 6% of world production (~84 million barrels per day).(1 Barrel = 159 Liter) pro Tag geschätzt, was ca. 6% der Weltförderung (~84 Mio. Barrel pro Tag) entspricht.

Ghawar, located in Saudi Arabia, is the world’s biggest oil field. Set to this background the players represent members of the royal family and try to locate good sites for new oil wells, find and deliver the different oil qualities and ship them to their base camps. However, the oil field is so huge that the players have to memorize where which oil quality is to be found.

Rules: Ghawar

The game takes place in two phases. In the first phase, players build their drilling rigs. In the second phase, the mineral resources are extracted.

The 36 drilling platforms are laid out in a 6*6 field so that trucks can drive between the platforms.

At Mücke Spiele we always want to give our games an authentic and thematically interesting background. While in Black Gold that was Spindletop Hill (the place in Texas where the world’s first oil rush took place), in the new game this is Ghawar – the largest oil field in the world.
