Game Mechanics: Namibia

by Sezgin Güven

The main mechanics in the game are the auction at the beginning of each round (which determines: the order of players, the number of tracks that can be placed and whether you can choose a port and raw materials to ship), the placement of mines, tracks and the prospect of raw materials as well the decision as to which raw material is shipped via which port. The commodity market is quite dynamic and prices are based on a supply and demand mechanism. The price of raw materials halves as soon as supply exceeds demand. That’s why it’s important to choose the right time to ship before your fellow players do.

Players who like games that involve tricky and far-reaching decisions will like Namibia. The fun lies in the player’s decision and its consequences.
